We would love to be able to tell you something of the Men's and Ladies Short program, but unfortunately that will not be possible. The Local Organizing Committee decided, in it's infinite wisdom, to hold the Novice events at the Winterhurst facility. This facility has one wall of bleachers in Rink #1, and according to reliable reports is pretty well packed during Regionals. Well ... it was more than pretty well packed for these Novice events. They severely oversold this venue. There was not even standing room available. I am pretty certain that if a Fire Marshall had come by, the event would have been shut down until the aisles could be cleared.

We are absolutely incensed at this cavilier behavior on the part of the organizing committee. We bought our all-event tickets years in advance. We paid for the hotel, rental car, and meals for the day ... for nothing. All due to the negligence of the Committee to either keep track of the number of tickets being sold or (more sensibly) to hold the event at the Gund Arena -- which was only being used today for practice ... a use for which the Winterhurst facility is ideally suited.

Therefore we have no report to offer today. The best we can offer is a link to the web site of Ann Jensen, who did manage to get some seats (although she was virtually trapped in them for the entire day because it was impossible to get to the distant stairs). Ann's Nationals site can be found at http://members.aol.com/AnnMJensen/nationals.htm (Sorry for the incorrect URL last night, but I thought she had it linked to her main page).

We hope we have better luck at tomorrow's long programs, although with a 5 month old baby along, it is not always possible to do everything according to the schedule we would like.
