Day 6

Why no Jr. Men?

Why is there no report on Jr. Men?

Glad you asked. I could not go to the Jr. Men Short because I was transporting skaters to their practice ice. I fully intended to go the Jr. Men Free and report back, but that became impossible. About 9:30 in the morning we were all in our hotel room. Marshall was asleep still and I hadn't gotten dressed yet because I didn't want to wake him. That's when the fire alarm went off.

Funny thing when you are a mom you hear a fire alarm and you don't think about getting dressed or putting on shoes or even grabbing your glasses. You just think "I must get my son out of here." And that's what we did; Richard picked up Marshall, we went to the fire stairs and walked down FORTY flights of stairs. My calves are STILL sore.

So there we were, wearing our pajamas and bare footed in the 35 degree Atlanta weather. AOL told me Atlanta's weather was as warm as California; that's what I get for listening to AOL. Marshall was shivering with cold. A bunch of other guests were very helpful, offering us gloves to put on Marshall's feet and clearing the way to the heat lamps near the hotel entrance. Many thanks to all the people whose faces I didn't even see clearly because I didn't have my glasses. We were truly touched by the "kindness of strangers." But eventually we were able to make our way to the Wyndham across the street and get some breakfast. The staff there was very nice and helpful.

Marshall was amazing. Despite shivering with cold and very thirsty he didn't whine he didn't cry or fuss at all. Once more the Wonder Baby proves his wonderfulness.

But by the time we got back to the hotel and got dressed and I got to the arena I was just in time to see the final results for Junior Men go up. And that is why there is no Junior Men's report on Catslair this year.
